Fookes Software has released NoteTab Pro v4.9, an award-winning Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP text editor for programmers, HTML developers, and anybody who needs a versatile text editor.

NoteTab Pro is a full featured text editor that lets you open and edit simultaneously as many documents as your system can support. Its slick tabbed interface provides easy access to all open documents. NoteTab Pro has a fully configurable toolbar with more than 90 commands available, and a ClipBar feature that lets you create your own toolbar buttons to execute custom scripts and wizards.

NoteTab incorporates a powerful and easy-to-learn script language. HTML developers will appreciate NoteTab's one-click conversion from text to HTML, and its ability to strip HTML tags quickly and easily. To clean HTML code and correct syntax errors, NoteTab integrates seamlessly with HTML Tidy, TopStyle, and CSE HTML Validator. NoteTab supports the new XHTML standard. An option lets users choose how NoteTab formats tag and attribute names, which can be either in lower case, upper case, or XHTML style.

NoteTab Pro is highly customizable, from color-coded syntax highlighting to fully configurable shortcut menus. NoteTab features an AutoCorrect/AutoReplace mode that corrects your errors as you type, similar to that found in high-end word processors. The latest release also adds support for the popular WordWeb thesaurus, Cascading Style Sheets, text encryption, as well as CRC32, MD5, and UUEncode/UUDecode operations.
