Fookes Software has released NoteTab Light v4.9, an award-winning Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP text editor for anybody who needs to deal with text data (ANSI, ASCII, Unicode), HTML code, and program source code.

NoteTab Light is a full featured text editor that lets you open and edit simultaneously as many documents as your system can support. Its slick tabbed interface provides easy access to all open documents. NoteTab Light has a fully configurable toolbar with more than 90 commands available.

NoteTab incorporates a powerful and easy-to-learn script language. These scripts let you process text, create text/code-completion wizards, control the Clipboard, manipulate NoteTab's interface, and exchange data with other applications. There are even commands which provide seamless support for Perl and Gawk interpreters. Perl and Gawk scripts can be stored in NoteTab Light's Clips and applied directly to highlighted text or an entire document. There is a free repository of Clipbook libraries available on the NoteTab Web site, covering anything from HTML, CSS, Javascript, LaTeX, SQL, C/C++, PGP, FTP, to handy utilities like contact managers and shopping-list aids.

HTML developers will appreciate NoteTab's one-click conversion from text to HTML, and its ability to strip HTML tags quickly and easily. To clean HTML code and correct syntax errors, NoteTab Light integrates seamlessly with HTML Tidy. NoteTab supports the new XHTML standard. An option lets users choose how NoteTab formats tag and attribute names, which can be either in lower case, upper case, or XHTML style.

NoteTab Light is highly customizable, including a fully configurable toolbar and shortcut menus. NoteTab features an AutoCorrect/AutoReplace mode that corrects your errors as you type, similar to that found in high-end word processors. The latest release also adds support for Cascading Style Sheets, text encryption, as well as CRC32, MD5, and UUEncode/UUDecode operations.
